TITLE : Footprints of Chiral Magnetism through Remanence Measurements

ABSTRACT :

Non trivial magnetic textures in chiral
magnets originating from Dzyaloshinskii Moriya
Interaction (DMI) driven spin-canting are
important from fundamental and application point
of view. Single Ion anisotropy (SIA) is
another mechanism to stabilize spin-canting in
these otherwise antiferromagnets (AFM). I
would present remanence measurements on such
spin-canted- AFMs oxides, which are also
symmetry allowed piezo magnets (PzM). These data
reveal an ultra-slow magnetization
relaxation phenomenon, leading to a quasi-static remanence with a counter intuitive
magnetic field dependence.
I will first establish the generality of the
phenomenon by showing the existence of this
unique remanence in a number of DMI driven canted
AFM. I would
show that the magnitude of this
remanence bears a correlation with spin-canting
angle and the Neel Temperature. I would
further establish how this remanence is
fundamentally different from the one
observed in other routine or complex magnetic
systems including spin glasses or super
paramagnets. I would demonstrate possible ways to
harness it near the room temperature through size
& interface effects, that arise from
encapsulation of such canted –AFM / PzM
inside carbon nanotubes .
I would also show how this
approach paves the way for nano-spintronic
devices based on these Oxide@ CNT based hybrids.
